Some of the standards issued by national organizations that are applicable to the types of valves discussed in this primer. These standards establish requirements for the design, dimensions, materials, marking, inspection, and testing of valves. Most of them are directed primarily toward manufacturers; however, they are also an excellent source of information for users.
